Hi,

I'm Sancarn. I'm a, mostly, vanilla minecraft youtuber. I'm sure you get millions of these suggestions every day but I'd like to suggest an idea for the vanilla minecrafters amongst the minecraft community! I am here to suggest a "Utility Pack". This mod pack would have no game changing mods (e.g. BC,IC,TE,TC,EE etc.) but instead would have mods that carry a lot of utility to the game (e.g. TMI, Map mods, KaboPC's
Dungeon Bounding Box Mod, Spawn Chunks Mod, Item fram performance mod, Show Monsters Mod, villager marker mod)

I ask for this because there have been many times when I have been playing in vanilla minecraft in my single player world wanting to experiment with unloading chunks or wanting to make nether mob farms without knowing bounding boxes etc. and just really wanting to have all these mods which don't really effect the game play but just effect the figuring out process :D.

Anyway that's it for my idea. Now I will link the mods I suggested:

http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic...rum.net/topic/1738287-164-village-marker-mod/
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1912304-164-spawn-chunks/
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/140684-17213w48b-toomanyitems-in-game-invedit-dec-2/
Dungeon bounding box mod:

And if you are interested in seeing my videos (they're not all mod based but they're all technical ;) ) my channel is:

Thanks,
~Sancarn

Isn't that kinda what voxel is?
Yeah it pretty much is. But the VoxelBox mod pack doesn't contain all the utilities that people have come up with. So yeah. It would be like their mod pack just with more stuff in it! :)

I kinda like your suggestion. Usually suggestions for modpacks either fall on deaf ears or are just ignored completely, but if you can make the pack yourself, go take a look at ATLauncher, they host player made packs :)

I doubt FTB will do this, but go ahead and do it yourself no one is stopping you! Vanilla with a few tweaks will unfortunately not interest the vast majority of this community(me included).

Actually, Slowpoke has said a few times that he plans on making a modpack that is almost-vanilla. Basically, Inventory tweaks, map mods, and some others that allow you to connect to Vanilla servers.

Generally you'll want to report it so the mods can see, rather than posting. Though, this seems like a fine place, since it's about FTB releasing a Vanilla-esq modpack.
Will do, But just wanted to tell him just to make sure he doesn't post something like this in General ftb chat since its about a modpack theory.

Not going to lie. "General discussion" Implies that it is open to all things about ftb. Because it is general… And this is about adding a mod pack to ftb. This doesn't really fit in mods because it's not about a mod… It's about a mod pack. Mod packs are different to mods… Just saying...

Ooo interesting :D Perhaps I should try and get in contact with slow then. :) Thanks for the heads up :D

True but I'm not thinking about "this community". I'm thinking about the minecraft community. It may also be a better way to introduce vanilla players to mods and let's face it increasing the modding community is only good for minecraft, as, the way I see it, modding s the ultimate future of minecraft.

yes modpacks are different from mods, but you have not put up a code for a modpack for the ftb launcher, so therefore, it is a modpack theory, and it goes in mod disscusion. General FTB chat has a limit to its "general" in that it is mostly about gameplay and feedback on official packs. So in the future, move this to Mod discussion, but if this becomes a legalized third party modpack, move it to third party modpacks.

I agree with SonOfABirch. I'd say this is a better place for this to go… A mod pack theory isn't a mod either! The argument doesn't really follow through from what I can see… In all honesty this is more of a "suggestion". If there was a suggestions forum this would make everything much more clear. But because this is neither a mod, or a mod pack it is left to the "general community" rather than a specific part of the community where it barely fits in...

I know what a mod is! I am making one right now. Also if you say you want a pack for mods that are for world editing, that is still a modpack. Ya know, since there's mods, and there in a package(or group). But yes, they need a suggestion thread somewhere for modpacks. They probably haven't done it though since they are very busy as it is.

Yep this is still a mod pack though it isn't for "world editing" it's just utility but, yes it's still a mod pack. But one that hasn't been implemented yet. And yeah, they probably are busy. So until they do implement a suggestions board, I feel this belongs here.
