Hey
as the title say´s why do i only get 50-60 FPS in Direwolf20 1.7.10 pack even with Fastcraft and Optifine?
My Specs are:

Intel Xeon 1231 V3 (4x 3,4GHZ + HyperThreading)
HIS R9 280X
8GB Corsair Vengance

on the 1.7 pack neither my CPU nor GPU is over 40% and i don´t know why.

Do you know why i don´t get more?

Try Fastcraft. It helps a lot with performance. With Fastcraft I get better performance in 1.7.10 compared to 1.6.4

You can also try Optifine. It can help in some situations.

Just a general view from personal experience, but 1.6 seems to be much, much more stable and performs better than 1.7.10 as a whole. Not to mention that Dire's pack is quite the mix of mods, and some of them, combined with 1.7.10, are pretty heavy on resource usage. I know that I've had issues with 1.7.10 fps even with Fastcraft added on. Perhaps better optimization will come later, or once everything shifts to 1.8?

1.7.10 is a pile of crap for optimization mostly becuase they tried to change stuff but decided to go to a new version before finishing it

They have actually found the reason why 1.7 runs so crappy with modded minecraft, the newest forge has some of the fixes, but I think a few mods need to update also at the same time.(It has to do with BlockUpdates...)

There are still massive performance problems present in vMC, which Forge has no impact on.

Those fixes, based on what I've been told, have also done very little in terms of performance.

It is weird that everyone keeps on complaining about 1.7.10 performance problems because with latest forge and fastcraft I get much better performance in 1.7.10 compared to 1.6.4. And I am playing on a world with lots of farms and machines constantly operating (EnderIO, TE, RFTools, RotaryCraft, MFR, ...).

Also on my daughters lower-end computer with Fastcraft and Optifine she got MUCH MUCH better performance with 1.7.10 compared to 1.6.4 (not the same modpack though).

Results have been mixed since 1.7 came out, and I don't think anyone understands why. I went from a pack that was about 220 mods in 1.6 down to about 60 mods in 1.7 and often cannot climb past 40 FPS, much less the 200+ I could get with v-sync off in 1.6.

Yeah Fastcraft helps some and not others, it's not an "end all" 1.7 problems for everyone. Pretty much like Optifine which breaks a lot more than it helps but I think most of that is resource pack related (the breaking).

The only problem I had with optifine was jabba barrel z-fighting (i.e. flickering of the item on the barrel). Other then that I have had no issues with faithful32 texture pack.
