I don't think there are many games coded in c or it's derivatives that are doing the same things as Minecraft. I was gonna say maybe Space /Medeival engineers could be a contender but I really don't know what it's coded in. My google fu must be weak.

Mentioning games like skyrim being more complex then minecraft mechanically must think those bolders that saw in a play once must be super heavy. Skyrims world is not doing very much at all. It's mostly static and needs very little of its states to be checked, the only work done is rendering. Nothing actually changes and it's impossible to modify in game. Skyrims world is made of pretty painted Styrofoam. Minecraft's is made of ugly compacted Volvos set in molten lead.
Java may or may not suck but until a similar game is coded in a C derived language we will never know.
Maybe that new pc Minecraft PE port will be a fairer comparison. But then we can't test the ability for mods for that yet.
