Contrary to popular belief, enhancing costs are exactly the same exp-wise.
Umm… no?

If you followed the link, you'd see that it says that you need to HAVE a certain level (max is 30) in order to enchant, but you only have to SPEND 1-3 levels (plus ingots) in order to enchant. Jeb said the cost of gaining levels has gone up a bit, but I seriously doubt it's gone up to the point where the experience to get from lv.1 to lv.30 now will be the same cost to get from lv.27 to lv.30 in 1.8. I doubt it will be anywhere close.

Search for the zipcrowd gold farm designs. They use the new large vanilla portals and ghasts to harvest pigmen. The amount of gold you're abke to harvest in vanilla is approaching the scale of iron golem farms

Very nice to know how ingenious those vanilla players are. :)

But golem farms are also getting way better, like the double trench of 64 villages (2600 iron per hour) and the foundry of 44 villages (1700 iron per hour)

but still, those golden farms are quite nice.

Sadly, it's not. It now costs gold and you see one possible enchant. Contrary to popular belief, enhancing costs are exactly the same exp-wise.

It really only affects enchanted books, and we modded players have waaaaaaay better things to spend leather on.

It really amazes me how some people either have selective reading comprehension or just don't bother to read anything outside a few key words. Sure, you could make the association between "Enchantments" and "Gold" and come to the conclusion that enchantments will cost gold ingots, but if you can read (and understand) the original post by Jeb he says that gold ingots are a convenient test item for now.

By the time 1.8 comes out the cost might be gold nuggets. Or iron blocks. Or whatever Jeb decides a proper balance will be. No need to get excited just yet.
