A new update, splendid, hopefully the additions will be of "decent" quality. I have my suspicions they are only revealing the secondary inconsequential features to lower the communities' expectations, and then reveal the new, oh-so awesome primary features that this update may or may not have.
a cabbage?

YAY! Mojang had their own Ideas! YAY!

^Ignore that^

Anyway the sunflowers do not look that good, but I think they're a cool feature.

Falling particles? Cool. I love partiles.

Ia it just me or does every game seem to update for the worst? I play a game called Roblox, which is right now putting out useless and game ruining updates. Same with Wizard101. Now SimCity is updating their game to be even worse and more rediculous? Are ALL games like this???

In my opinion, I like the updates. The game is nowhere near perfected. Updates are fun to explore. Sure, sometimes Mojang doesn't meet everyone's expectations, but the updates don't ruin the game. The worst thing that I've seen added is the new zombie spawning mechanic. Everything else is pretty good IMO. Plus, don't you want Mojang to listen to what the community wants? If they didn't, you would be complaining that they won't listen. I am personally looking forward to 1.7 and beyond.[DOUBLEPOST=1376885691][/DOUBLEPOST]EDIT (because the edit button won't work for me ATM so I'm hoping for a post merge): I am sorry for bringing back what seems to possibly be a dying thread, but I wasn't on recently to reply. I hope this doesn't annoy anyone.

Lost as always
Am I the only one who thinks about upgrades for their sunflowers, so that they can battle zombies? Or that they at least are a barrier to them? ;)
I thought sunflowers were just a way to harvest the resources necessary to create the other plants which can battle zombies...

Honestly, I don't see what the beef is here. MC has been ripping mods off for a while. Pistons, wolves, enderchests, horses... I fail to see why this is a bad thing.

Plus, sunflowers are the best flowers. :p

Already use a mod that adds impact particles. Zombie Awareness mod. Makes zombies (and skeletons) a major pain with their swarming and slightly better path finding (if you have a hole in your defenses, they will find it). Any damage you take results in blood stains on the ground.

I'm at a bit of a loss as to why people keep going on about how Mojang "steals" from mods. I suppose it isn't terribly clear that, for example (in my understanding of facts), the BC hopper was the inspiration for the one in vanilla Minecraft with a bit of a spin on it. Pistons were really popular and innovative, Mojang (or was it just Notch at that stage?) thought it deserved to be added to the main game for everyone to enjoy.

Aside from the oft forgotten point that Minecraft technically does have rights to anything in mods (perhaps I have a little misunderstanding on this but it makes sense to me as such), I believe Mojang regularly works with modders when there's a cool mod function they'd like to pull into the main game or perhaps hire a mod group (Bukkit, anyone?), etc. As far as I can tell, Mojang is trying to work pretty closely with the modding community.

I just don't get all the fuss when there's no signs of anything other than imagined problems. o_O

I don't get the sunflowers and horses hate. Sure, you may not use them at first, but it doesn't take much imagination for a modder to use them, to:

  • provide early-game fast transportation
  • lance upgrade that allows 1-shotting of creepers
  • alternative source of power (attach a horse to a turnstyle and watch it go round and round)
  • sun-facing sunflowers as an ingredient for clocks
  • sunflower seeds for biofuel production
  • etc.,.

..and the above is not very imaginative. I'm sure sunflowers and horses will be fully leveraged by the mod community.

^Maybe then horsepower will actually have some meaning.

Wait, horsepower isnt a measure of mechanical power in modded minecraft? Why are we not funding this!? I need donkey powered macerators now!

But seriously though, each update from Mojang gives the mod authors yet another thing to play with. While we already have flowers, horses could have a lot of potential. Mechanical-robot horses anyone?

I wouldnt reset a world from 1.6 to 1.7 though just for the new biomes. Extra biomes and Biomes o plenty add enough biomes that the couple of new additions arent all that important.

When hasnt mojang used mod content for vanilla minecraft? As I recall, smooth lighting and the McRegion file format were both based on modders work. Would you really want to go back to blocky lighting, even in vanilla?
