Someone else was having this crash earlier. This crash is caused by a method in Immersive Engineering attempting to use a method that is not in Java 7, but it is in Java 8. Update to Java 8 and if you have another crash post the crash log.

New problem: Can't make steamcraft capacitors, since they require steamcraft sulfuric acid, which requires steamcraft sulfur, which is unobtainable.

Is this intentional? If not, I think it would be nice if the recipe was changed to require tfc-udary sulfuric acid instead.

PS. Similar problem with aluminum being unobtainable. Was that meant to be fixed with the addition of tfctech in .98? Or are HV wires meant to be unobtainable?

I actually took some time today to look into these machines. They seem to function properly at the moment so I will work on changing their recipes and fit the tech into the tree :D

I don't think TFC has any snow or desert biomes... http://wiki.terrafirmacraft.com/Biome So I don't think you'll be able to find those naturally.

I wonder how hard it would be to add them? In fact, I'm kind of surprised desert isn't there since some of the resources might be better found in that environment.

Snow could be added on top of existing. Forest, sadly, doesn't even exist, it's just lots of trees on a plain. Do they even have different kinds of trees? I've only ever seen Acacia in "forest-like groups of trees"

The hardest would be desert, but there are some cool things that could be done with it, not to mention an actual source of sandstone (which I've yet to find).

FYI, having all these places and blocks are essential for Thaumcraft as well.

So how hard would it be to add these?

Alright. I couldn't fit the java 8 crash in my last one. And since I'm fairly used to everything running on java 7: that was the first one I wanted to get solved. Thank you for clearing that up for me :) though here's the java 8 crash report:

Hey Greasy I have had the issue with the vessels and jugs(more often) not counting for my quest. I have noticed that if I put the jug down shift click it, and then pick it back up it seems to make the error more likely. Since I have started making 4 at a time and then checking the quest book before I set them down- I have not had a problem.

Has 1.0.98 nerfed/adjusted Twilight Forest at all? I'm running 1.0.97 and it's working fairly smoothly for me, but it's near impossible to explore since there's 10-15 Helmet Crabs on the beach down the way at any given time, and there are Giant Miners spawned in several locations near my home base, blocking off a couple of biomes to me.

Tried to pick up some pure lava (lycanite mobs mod) with the liquid thingy from cogs of the machine, game crashed. Can't load the world anymore.

Sigh... Why is this pack so unstable...

I'm running 1.0.97 and it's working fairly smoothly for me, but it's near impossible to explore since there's 10-15 Helmet Crabs on the beach down the way at any given time, and there are Giant Miners spawned in several locations near my home base, blocking off a couple of biomes to me.

In my experience, it seems much better, though that could just be that I'm hiding in a lake. That said, they aren't spawning nightly on the roof of my house, so I consider that a major improvement.

Also, if you have enemies camping on an area, one strategy is to just run far away, and then come back after they've despawned.

So I have been trying to recover my world. Tried enabling the forge config settings that delete entities & tile entities that crash the server. Nope. Nothing.

Then I tried editing my inventory using this utility called INVedit. Nope. I edit the file in /minecraft/saves/worldname/playerdata/ffdb9428-28f0-4747-8475-a47433f21f4f.dat , save it, re-open it to verify; yep it saved it correctly. Then I load up the game, crash. I load my playerdata file again in INVedit, and see it has been reverted to its previous state!? How am I even supposed to edit my character? Is it stored embedded in some other file?

Sigh... Why is this pack so unstable...

I never once said that it wasn't :p Several of the mods are experimental and quite a few have ceased development at all :(

I do appreciate that your going off the beaten and testing all this random stuff but a lot of it was never intended to work together. For now I am going to see if there is a way to disable or remove the cogs water container.

Well I figured since it exists, it might be useful for something, so I wanted to pick up a few blocks just in case. And the liquid thingy from cogs is one of the few items (maybe the only item?) in this pack that can actually pick up liquids other than water and lava. Wait, maybe beeswax canisters can do it too.

Anyway I'm at the point of endgame for TFC so I have to try to explore other mods in order to progress, and only like 2% of the items from the other mods even work, which is very frustrating. Every time I want to do something, I have to first go into creative mode, give myself 5-6 items from various mods that sound like they could do what I want, then I actually put them in the world to see if any of them work. Usually I'm lucky if even one of them works. And doesn't crash my game.

I think I'm done at this point. (Can't figure out how to recover my world and I'm not planning to start over).

Oh by the way, you can duplicate any metal by putting the double ingot into a metal press, then melting the resulting double plate into 4 ingots.

Having an issue where Twilight Forest mobs are ignoring spawn protection. Version 1.0.97 AND 1.0.98.

Lit up area inside fence to a minimum of 8, plopped down a protection meter and everything checks out.
[Edit] It seems I miscounted squares and there are dark spots according to Waila, moving pumpkins now...

But i'll wander off during the daylight hours and come back at dusk to 5 trolls, two pinch beetles and a couple of redcaps just hanging out inside the fence line.

Attempting to replace the floor inside the perimeter with mud bricks and chisel a layer off to see if that helps, but it's an annoying issue.

Yes, all of the non-TFC mobs ignore the TFC spawn protection. However some biomes are much more dangerous than others and will offer much harsher living conditions. Mountains and Swamps being the most dangerous of these ...

Well no, I only test items that are actually obtainable. Like that liquid container thing from cogs. (Actually went through the trouble of crafting it myself, it was the only reason I got into cogs of the machine, made the servo table, and used like 15 handcranks on the pendulum just to get it crafted.)

Actually I said I was at the endgame of TFC. That is, redsteel/bluesteel. I'm nowhere near the end of TFP or the questbook. ;P

That being said, I think I already have all the machines that are actually useful (carpenter, centrifuge, squeezer, thermionic fabricator, metal press), powered by 3 waterwheels and 1M RF storage, 2 coke ovens, 2000+ charcoal, around 2,000,000mB of creosote, full exosuit, and a pretty big flaxbeard steam tank that is filled up by a liquid fuel railcraft boiler using creosote. I haven't really been following the questbook much since it wants me to make some garbage railcraft engines and I'd rather get to the good stuff. :p When I do complete a quest (usually by accident) I usually end up auto-completing 10+ more quests following it. :p

So placing them on the ground also changes their metadata :( I never even though to test for that condition. Maybe I can find some setting that will work with newly baked jugs and placed jugs. The TFC coding has made working with HQM a real headache :(

Well this pack looks fascinating. Anyone recommending a whitelisted server with this pack? The last server I was on had TFC with advancedMobs and progression, so should be similar.
