    I don't know whether it was an incorrect combination of texture packs or whether it just couldn't handle 128, but I got it all up and running fine. My game is now both sphaxy and functional :) Thanks for the help.

    Thanks a lot mate...it worked first time with the file in the exception list. I'll wait until it loads every time before I get too excited though...It's worked before before failing to work after that. You wouldn't have any advice about the Sphax textures would you? My laptop is pretty high...
