    This generally wont improve recording speed no, that is dependent on your video card, cpu and HDD speed not the amount of memory you have. If you are using a high res texture pack, combined with a heavily modded minecraft pack you will need a top level i7 and good graphics card to record without lag

    Linux will be all command line based for installation, but there are a few good tutorials around for you to follow

    As a java dev, there are 32 bit java for the same reason so much money was spent on upgrading from Windows XP. There are just that many old pc's around. java isn't a game engine its a programming language, we need people to be able to run things written in it.

    I used to use Virpus, but they got a bit expensive. LowEndBox is the best place to begin looking, you will also need more ram than you think. Prob 3gb ram because its not just running Minecraft. Any VPS on Xen or KVM should be fine!

    If you are running through a host the server will be run by their script, not one you can edit.

    Unless you know what you are doing a VPS can be a little annoying. If costs are a concern have you though about a MC hosting company like CreeperHost, DemonVps(They do MC Servers), or PytoHost. All these have some level of support for getting a FTB server going

    Need help! Server wont start due to chickenchunks!

    My solution is to delete the loginTimes.dat under the <server>/<worldname>/chickenchunks folder
