indeed when you first enable BoP in red text it tells you that you need to add a gen type before BoP generates so when you say do it after x amount of traveling then any new chunks start using the gen type and biomes get jagged and messed up. You could move your stuff farther out to new gen...

Just going to throw out the most common thing out there besides making sure you did open to lan but if it is wifi connections are you certain you are both on the same network? If that is not the issue then it may be a bug

to be honest it is quite easy to change spawn point with nbt just download the level.dat file and input the new spawn coords. You could try /set spawn or /setspawn but i think that is a player based thing and not global. The first method would take less then 5 mins
