I'm having issues with the left side myself, I just updated Direwolf20 modpack and now I can't see the section with weather/time/creative mode button or the saved item preferences so I'm stuck in survival mode and I can't even use the right side to grab items like before, it's stuck in recipe...

It's just a random world generation every time you make a book and they don't have a different item ID so I doubt it, maybe if you create a New Age, delete everything in the folder, keep the folder name and put the content of one of your previous age? I doubt that would work but it shouldn't be...
