What hardware do you use? :D

That's because Tonga(and the GCN architecture as a whole) is pretty memory bandwidth starved. It's why people report seeing sizeable gains by overclocking the HBM on the Furys, despite HBM already being ridiculously fast.

What hardware do you use? :D

That's okay, the 380x wasn't nearly as exciting as people hoped. A 280x gets slightly better performance then it. It's so refreshing finding somebody actually enjoying their AMD cpu, instead of complaining about how they get 10 less frames compared to their friend's i5. I'm glad you are...

What hardware do you use? :D

Don't get too hopeful with overclocks as far as GPU goes. Tonga(the architecture the r9 380 is based on) doesn't OC very well. Should be able to hit at least 1050 though.

    Dat RAM is sexy.

Besides MC, what have you been playing lately?

Playing Witcher 2 atm. Takes a little getting used too since the controls are different then Witcher 3, but story is still great and graphics are still excellent by today's standards.

Besides MC, what have you been playing lately?

You aren't the only one. Bethesda dropped the ball big time on Fallout 4. :(

What hardware do you use? :D

Well, FTB loads pretty quickly thanks to being on my SSD. But other then that, you're probably right. :p

Well, I custom built as well. But that was last year. I dual boot Arch Linux and Windows 10. PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i3-4160 3.6GHz Dual-Core Processor ($113.99 @ SuperBiiz) Motherboard: MSI CSM-H87M-G43 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($77.99 @...

Request Assistance: How Can I Get Minecraft to Run More Smoothly

To add on to this, the reason why you shouldn't give Minecraft more then 4gb is because of garbage collection and Java itself. It'll just eat everything its given and take longer to do garbage collection. So even if the pack does start up, when garbage collection happens, you'll get sizeable FPS...

How will this PC run FTB modpacks?

You aren't playing anything but FTB Lite with that CPU and amount of RAM. At least, not well.

FTB News Nov 7th 2015 | FTB Page on Curse | Pack Updates | Third Party Packs

I remember somebody on the FTB team(Slowpoke I think?) saying they weren't dropping the legacy client until the Curse client had Mac and Linux support.

    Minecraft Frame Times

Been thinking about this for a while. I've also thought it a bit weird how Minecraft still doesn't feel completely smooth, even at the 60 FPS mark. It's only really smooth for me at the 120+ mark. And then it hit me. What's the frame times like on Minecraft vs other games(such as Skyrim?)...

Recomended Java for users 32&64 bit? Question

    Most linux distributions are free.

Recomended Java for users 32&64 bit? Question

Agreed. If you can't use 64 bit Java, you either have an ancient Pentium 4(or older), or an older Intel Atom(newest ones support 64 bit.) Neither of which are capable of handling FTB.

    Low performance ?

Yeah, that FPS sounds about right for your GPU.
  18. W

    Low performance ?

You have dedicated graphics? Because although Minecraft is not very demanding graphically, it can still be bottlenecked heavily by weak GPUs(such as the HD 4600 in your CPU.) Your FPS sounds about right if you are using integrated.

How to generate massive power at early/mid game?

Well, to be fair, I'd say the crazy power gen of Rotarycraft is end game, especially in the latest versions. But if you are going crazy power gen end game, there's no reason not to go reactorcraft. Even the HTGR, with the right setup, is capable of 131k+ RF/t.

    Is this ok for ftb?

That CPU is going to inhibit you severely in FTB. Anything heavier then FTB Lite will most likely bring it to it's knees.
