    I believe the ~5000 is your actual durability, with the 100 being aa displayed percentage of the durability left. Autorepair repairs the pickaxe's durability over time (unless the pick is completely broken, as in showing the "broken" tooltip) with higher levels repairing faster and the process...

    Most normal growth modifiers work, so ex utilities watering can, thaumcraft growth labs, green sigil, ect. And sand does not make sugar cane grow faster (unless a mod is making it do that) no matter how much it is said it does.

    16 gigs total system memory, so he has plenty for the OS unless something is eating that ram up in the background

    How much memory do you have allocated to ftb? You can check in the laucher.

    No, unless you have a bad essential pipe setup no aspects should be lost. However, any unused aspects can clog the system if you do not give them a place to go (a warded jar for example).
