Why not just make an aqueous, a steam dynamo, a redstone furnace and be done with the entire mess? Fire and forget power and the dynamo's can be upgraded now which makes them a fine way to grow power ( pardon the pun ) to suit your bases needs at least until you are ready to build ludicrous...
