Honestly I don't need standards, Just a "Ohai, I is alivez" would make me happy. The problem is right now we've got nothing. I don't expect her to be like King Lemming or Machine Muse, but a monthly "I'm alive and still modding" message would go a long way towards solving the current red power...

I believe the sewage collectors work at a static rate, more animals require more collectors 40 whatevers over 1 collector will only equal 1 collector worth of sewage. 40 animals in their own 1x1 area with their own sewage collector should produce substantially more sewage.
