It's possible you have a ghost block, rhn, but those will usually destroy the entire structure, not just one part. Either way, tearing the whole thing down may just be necessary.

I'm not entirely sure what you're saying... Mind using some different words? Promote means to "Increase in rank," which in the context does not fit. Oil, however, can be "promoted" through the use of an oil refinery (What you've got there is a tank, not a refinery).

Yeaaah, Golden Lassos are "Peaceful" capture devices. If you want to capture hostile mobs, you need to use a safari net, which is either single use, or requires harder-to-get materials like ghast tears and enderpearls.

I'm trying to look into this, myself. For me, the game starts freezing after a few minutes, so I don't know if you've changed anything else on your client, or if mine is just having serious issues. If the download source cannot be changed on you, then don't download the recommended/1.0.2 version.

I've got to say, this server is great. There are so few servers that do NOT ban important things like silkworms, so finding one that both permits silkworms and has a large playerbase is rare.
