Right. All of these changes are requirements of the Forge API now (All mod textures have to be located at mods\modid\texture\<type>), the texture sheet change is a vanilla thing, and the forced file name is the unlocalized name of the block / item.

You could just remove EE3 from the modpack if you don't like it... instead of trying to ruin it for the rest of the people who think it's handy. SMP? Sorry, you can either just not use it on a server, ask your server admin to disable it, or not play on that server.
