How are you using the half-slabs? If you make them the bottom half of the block (as in there's half a block of empty space above them), it's an invalid place for any mobs to spawn.

Do you mean pure as in Pure Bees (the species you can stick near tainted nodes to clear them or something)? Or pure breeds as in removing the recessive traits? If it's the former, look them up in NEI, it gives you a crafting recipe consisting of both parents. Then you can click on the parents...

Didn't BC transport pipes have effectively infinite capacity back then? I seem to remember my automated bee genocide setup ended up with a truly stupefying number of drones circulating in about 12 sections of pipe.

Something i've noticed in Infinity is that intermittently when I type something in the search bar of my ME Terminal, it won't input "T". Other times it will. And on some occasions pushing T will close the terminal and I get something that looks like the firework explosion animation. Not sure...
