You need to include information like your system specs. Throwing memory at a performance problem is pointless if its an issue with your processor or video card.

At that price its a pretty nice deal. Not great for modded Minecraft because of the low per core speeds and high power consumption but if you put a couple vanilla servers on there and rent them out, it would pay for itself and leave enough room to run one or two servers for yourself.

Keep in mind, having 8 cores is useless for Minecraft. It will only use 1 core most of the time and 2 at the most.

That's actually a good point, but I think the role of RF powered pickaxe is filled by Tinkers Construct quite well. I have made a suggestion to the author to change the drill from a 3x3 to a 1x1 though, it made no sense for both the drill and hammer to have a 3x3 break pattern.

Your comparing to Redstone Arsenal which I suppose is fair. This actually has quite a few advantages asides from just hammers. There is tiers of materials for the tools, they are all modular, there are upgrades, they hold more RF, and it even has a universal tool that can do everything.

An amazing new mod got released that adds more tools to Thermal Expansion and they are modular. The models are pretty nice looking and the guy is new to the modding community, much to my surprise, this is quite a complicated mod for a first timer...

Honestly that sounds like a whole different mod. Mekanism is more about machinary with simpler goals. Ore processing, flight, power production, power transfer.

I assumed you were talking about a dedicated machine for 20 - 50 people. There are probably at least 4 VPS's on that server. Your basically getting 1 core maximum of that processor, a quarter of that disk IO, and a quarter of the network bandwidth. If you do the math of 32 gigs of memory...

Now, are you getting that full dedicated machine or are you getting a VPS hosted on one of those boxes?

Actually, there is an efficiency curve, you want the temps high but below a certain number which I believe is 1000. Keeping your reactor at around 950 should get most of the possible output.

If I understand correctly, any reactor on that list can run on any coolant. To prevent overheating, you will likely need to control the reaction which will result in less power.

Once you get to bigger player numbers, there is some base sharing and you can expect people to not be playing for more than a few days. There is not flat amount of memory per player, but if I had to give a number, it would be 256mb once you get past 4 players.

I would if there was an config option for no animations and other fancy rendering. I love the idea but I would rather keep a stable 30 or 60 FPS than produce a ton of power that I will never use.
