I did the quest to go to the end, placed the endportal frames then the the eyes of ender but the portal won't open. did I miss something?

I got it after the refinary quest. maybe you need some osmium ingots.

Have you tried Nightvision potion or vial of owlsight(Botania)? That has workt for me And I found most Rutile ore near tainted soil

Botania has the solution for the leafs namely "the horn of the canopy"
