    Yes I tried reloading as well to no effect. I believe when it's a sync issue a normal block update will also fix it, so digging around it would reveal the correct blocks, but that never happened either.

    Not exactly. Veins spawn with a primary ore and then secondary ores spawn nearby/within. Cassiterite will spawn as a secondary ore in Tin veins, and Tin will spawn as a secondary ore in Cassiterate veins.
