    Yes, make a smeltery next. However, I suggest skipping the iron pick and turning those iron ingots into manasteel instead. The manasteel pickaxe skips a few mining levels.

    Make sure you also have the tool you're trying to upgrade a part on fully repaired as well. That threw me off for a while when I first started using tinker tweaks.

    Mariculture and Botania both offer solutions for this, and when you combine them visibility is like the water isn't even there. Look into the Ring of Chordata and the Diving Helmet.
