I really enjoyed CyanideX's model for EC. I thought it looked great and will really fit in when he does the rest of RI.

TBH Tekkit has been offering a much more unified gameplay experience than FTB since 1.5. I've still stuck with FTB as there are mods I couldn't live without, but this version I've stuck with Jaded and Eyamaz's packs and TPPI. That is the kind of pack I want come 1.7. Ideally with just RF.

Indeed - you have to only imply things gently. For example I couldn't say "I think everybody with a capital A in their name loves to eat out their mothers" but I could say "A; what an awfully peculiar letter." Modders who don't fix crashes.
