It actually seems to have some issues with the Botania special flowers. Maybe the new double-tall flowers are causing issues? Edit: Are you using 0.7.3 by any chance?

Did you by any chance open your game to LAN? That's what usually happened to me when going to the menu did not pause the game.

I've derped occasionally when the quest had multiple steps that opened subsequently and I was too eager to claim the rewards and got annoyed because the button was unclickable.

Wander around until you find a wicker man (a human-like structure built of hay bales - introduced by Witchery I think), break those and you will have bread for days. Might want to break the spawner underneath it, too; or light it up and come pick it up later when you can/need it.

The version you are trying to play would also be helpful; especially if you've upgraded recently, since loading older worlds on 0.7.x takes quite a while.

I'm still early in the pack, but I'm fairly sure that grass won't spread to cracked sand. You need to do one or more layers of dirt to get them grassy.

Sorry if this wasn't what your were looking for, but you must completely exit Minecraft (i.e. Save and Quit to title and then Quit in the main menu) and launch it again.

Mushrooms still spawn normally in caves/the Nether (haven't gotten to the nether myself but I read they do) so do a little exploring to get the infused spores (just drop a mushroom in the mana pool).

Kill spiders for string/grow cotton to get wool.

You need to find a privately hosted server or you can get one of your friends to host it for you (or you can host it yourself for other players).
