Just tried it again, I could pick it up with my flint pickaxe. I'm on the latest version. But yeah, starting near a village is awesome: you get free crops, iron to melt down, and sometimes beneath the cauldrons there's chests with diamonds and gold. :)

Also cauldrons, I think. At least I've skipped copper a few times with them. It's not that big of a deal.

In what y-level are you mining? I remember tin being slighly below copper. Here's the ore gen spreadsheet. Seems it spawns from y-level 4 to 48, being most common at around 19-23.

I don't think Metallurgy has that feature :/ What you can do to make it easier is use the Space hotkey from Inventory Tweaks (hold Space key then click on an item in an inventory, and all of the items from that inventory are moved to your inventory, and vice versa). That and a few extra chests...

I think Carmot is a fantasy ore, so you can find it in the Spirit World, the Witchery dimension.

Must be a bug in the ExtraTiC/TiC Iguana Tweaks interaction. I tried to make replace my wooden bow with Bloodwood rods, which are also added by ExtraTiC, and it didn't work. Either way, you're better off with slime rods, I think. There's a neat thread in these forums, let me get it for you...

I'm also having frequent crashes when going from/to the nether. A workaround I've found is when I want to go to/from the nether, I save and quit and relog, it seems to crash less. Loving the pack! Thanks Eyamaz!

Considering that there are a lot of cheap methods to enhance the output of crops (Blood Magic, Ars Magica, MFR, lots more) it's really ridiculous that he made the recipe this expensive. It's not like the new watering can rains diamonds on you.
