    1.7.10 Alpha Packs

    In MageQuest 1.0.2, I am seeing exactly the same biomes and surface generation as I do in Vanilla. Thaumcraft nodes are also generating in the same locations as they did in 1.7.2, but Magical Forest biomes appear to be much less common. Enjoy, and KeepOnDigging!

    I will also add @Iskandar, that I have no doubt the user experience over the next 4 months will be much better in a 1.6.4 CrashLanding than a 1.7.10 CrashLanding. Digger.

    Sorry I'm late to this sub-thread, but I'll throw in my 2 cents. I have read every post in this thread (yes really!). In the last 20 pages there are only half a dozen reports of "it won't work" and I would hazard a guess that they are most likely related to a bad download or a completely b0rked...

    The FlenixTweaks mod raises the entity render distance. Forum thread Download Page Download it from the "Download Version 1.0 for Minecraft 1.6.4" link on the download page. This version doesn't seem to effect food/hunger. KeepOnDigging!

    There is no challenge to finding ingredients in any ex nihilo pack. The challenge is in setting up automation, after that you have more raw materials than you can possibly use. It really is far too easy to get unlimited resources, which I guess is why Iskandar gated technology behind the grindy...

    Well I looked it up, and mobs are not supposed to spawn within 24 blocks of a player or player spawn point. http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Spawn KeepOnDigging!

    Squids will only spawn in pools greater than 23 blocks from a player spawn point. Or some such distance. If your pool is right where you respawn when you die, you won't spawn squid. Hope that helps, and KeepOnDigging!

    The only thing I use JABBA barrels for is voiding useless materials. In general I find them much more expensive and less convenient than storing things in an ME system. Is there any other storage system which can maintain a certain amount of an item then automatically void excess of that item...

    A couple of things… Cactus I tried the cactus route for hydration, and cacti grow so slowly it's not worth it. By the time you have multiplied enough cactus plants (either by harvesting and re-planting or sieving for seeds) to generate enough water to keep you hydrated, you have much better...

    It might be worth your while speaking with Funwayguy to see if some extra options can be added to Enviromine so that you can specify which biomes are salty. Another option would be to make small patches of tundra or swamp where the ruins are placed. So water would be dirty or cold. KoD!

    The flint in the WTF map is an unnecessary luxury. I'm tempted to say the cookie is as well, but I guess it ensures you won't die to unlucky RNG. i.e. cookie ensures food if the first tree doesn't drop any apples. Torch seems to be essential, unfortunately… in one play through I died of hunger...
