Well, no. Chances are I'm still doing something obviously wrong, but here it is. I followed the guide, opened the launcher, and tried downloading the direwolf20 mod pack. It then kept going in a loop, or close to, until an error message showed up. The message never loaded after 10 minutes, all...

This has been happening with any of the different ftb servers I try and connect to, as well as Resonant Rise servers in the ATLauncher. I can load the modpack fine, and can play singleplayer, but multiplayer isnt working. Any help someone can give is appreciated http://pastebin.com/Y7pg3e4S
