Build the portals yourself at the right locations (over world divided by 8) and you will link up correctly. You can ignore height to an extent, but it will cause problems if you have a lot of tightly packed destinations.

I seem to recall Jaded declaring the copper mattock recipe had been disabled for challenge reasons so that may well be your issue. I never had to test it as a special mob helpfully dropped an iron hoe for me but I've since made a bronze mattock with no issue.

That assumption is the mistake you are making. You don't need the tool station. Along with all the nerfs there are some boosts :) You can build metal tools on the original table.

Thanks for the time you are putting into converting this Maul. I’ve found that I never really get into FTB/Tekkit worlds because I forget to play Minecraft with them; I just rush to get the new toys then find I’ve got a virtually empty world to go with my hi-tech machine plant and big holes...
