I've been wondering this too, apparently (after some searching) there's something that does stop hostile mobs spawning in loaded chunks after a period of a time. Got no idea what it is that does this and how to turn it off.
It really depends on how many speed upgrades you got in there. Also, 15 bookshelves are enough for full bonus and the enchanter is rather picky. I personally use 2 Botania mana pylons (those provide 15 levels worth each)
RFTools also has the advanced powercell , bit of costly in resources but stores 2mil/rf and outputs 20k/rf tick per SIDE. Makes them pretty nice (and practically the only) option for interdimensional power transfer.
This is fixed in the latest version (r128) of Actually Additions, no more log spam but still growing grass / flowers on untilled dirt blocks. That means growing melons/pumpkins under glass in practically impossible.
Bats, bats, bats, bats... BATS! AAAAAAAAARGH! :D Trying to catch one with (insert your choice of mob catching tool) is an exercise in ragemode handling.
My mob spawner is a 9x9x7 (7x7x5 internal) and it's large enough to spawn a Ghast, they're 1 block in the floor but that's just a bonus: They can't move :p
