If YOU had only one mod to take out of Ultimate, forever, what would it be?

Can we at least agree that NEI should start out in recipe mode instead of cheat mode? At least? There's playing survival and then there's pretending it's survival but chickening out at every little problem. It's the latter who should be doing extra work to unlock options, not the former.

Why does it bother you when people "chicken out"? I don't really give a crap if people want to cheat in their diamonds. That may not be how I play, but it's no skin off my back if someone else wants to make their starter home from emerald blocks or whatever.

I like to switch between test worlds and survival worlds to try out new mods or builds, so personally I'm glad that cheat mode is enabled by default. Saves me the inconvenience of config tinkering (not a huge deal, but I tend to forget to reconfigure whenever I update mods).

I would say gregtech by a LONGSHOT.
Why?
Just because it makes things harder?
There are configs for that.
Gregtech adds all kinds of cool things that add to the gameplay, like the Fusion Reactor.
I like my pretty blocks that he adds, and he new toys for getting more out of your ore.
And I like a good challenge.
If you don't know how to adjust configs?
I'm sorry for you.
It doesn't take that long to learn how.

It doesn't bother me, I just don't understand why people who want to play survival legitimately are seen as less important than people who want to play creative. Why is it more work to play legit than it is to play with cheats? Why is it that I can start a game with cheat mode by literally just starting a game with all NEI settings at default, but to start a game where cheating isn't possible, I have to fumble around in the configs? That's not how it works in any other game ever, it shouldn't be how it works here.

Even in old FPSes where it was a piece of cake to activate cheats, you at least had to open the console and type in the code that enabled cheat mode first before being able to enable God Mode and such. Imagine if Doom 2 started you in god mode and was all, "oh by the way if you don't want god mode, you can deactivate it in the console window". That would be absurd

In my honest opinion, it's perfectly fine to cheat in diamonds because once you get a recycler and a cobblestone generator, your practically have infinite diamonds via scrap boxes. Using multiple block breakers to make an automatic cobblestone generator, having the cobblestone turned into scrap, have the scrap crafted into scrap boxes, and then have those go into a deployer. It just depends on how much time a person has because diamonds aren't hard to get; they just take forever.

this is a sandbox game, you do the fuck you want without nobody telling you it's wrong, speciall in SSP since cheating there doesn't harm anyone.

Xycraft - My friend likes the soil but I hate the ores and the stupid crystals and the building blocks are the ugliest blocks in the game. (I use Sphax)

I would rather build in mud and cobble.

You havn't seen the engineering bricks then :D

Meh, I love xycraft personally, it adds better better versions of tanks and auto-crafting tables. Filling tanks with infinite water is easier too.

XyCraft crystals are really shitty, though.
XyCraft, for me, is awesome. Engineering bricks fit perfectly in my base design. Crystals cause so much lag it hurts... I would like if they were more like TC2's crystals. That would be cool.

The crystals are definitely in bad taste, although they look cool. The author must have been testing models or something, because I can see almost no use for them.
I guess they are a slightly better cactus...

I'm sorry, but i don't understand why so much rage about someone else opinion. What's the problem if someone doesn't like some mod? Like was said, it's a sandbox game, you can do whatever you want...
And i would take out RedPower, i like the frames, the logic and everything else it adds, but is delaying the updates so much that i would rather play without it...

I think some people got the wrong idea. Also, discussion is good.

I love redpower too much right now, but with most of the functionality replaced, I've been relaxing my hold on it.

I would say EBXL. It may have pretty biomes and trees, but I find myself looking for vanilla biomes and avoiding the extra biomes altogether. Besides that, it adds some unusable plants and other blocks that just sit around without any use.

On the OP, I think secret rooms is great for mapping, as it lets you hide a lot of stuff, and I love the full block, free standing levers and pressure plates.

And on gregtech, I do think it's overcomplicated, but it is really neat. :3

Secret Rooms doesn't like Mystcraft very much.
At least on 1.0.2 it didn't.
I would crash every other time I went into worlds, even if I didn't have an age.

TE because it makes the game too easy. Sometimes I think about just telling myself no TE and go back to the olden days when IC2 was the mod to go to.

I dont like Power Converters. The blocks remind me of Bakugans.

Sorry, bt can you explain to me WTF is a bakugan...small kids in my school are always talking about that and I can't understand what it is...[DOUBLEPOST=1371239302][/DOUBLEPOST]

Please, try IC2 once again, you will see it will be nostalgic and cool...

Meh, there's a reason I've disabled the normal drill nerf and the macerator nerf in GT's config - I really don't want to be forced to use TE always.

Xycraft.

The only things I like are the tanks and the corn. The tanks can be replaced by the Railcraft tanks which are in my opinion better (just more expensive) and there are plenty of other food sources. The ores and crystals it puts EVERYWHERE are ugly and fill up my inventory. Decent fodder for the recycler but I'd just rather not even see them while mining.

When I get those occasional chunk errors and see into the ground all I see are quartz crystals from xycraft
