Sometimes, simple is best, when it comes to power. Small, clean, efficient. However, this has the downside of being boring, and perhaps even...safe. Screw safety, screw simplicity, and (to a degree), screw reason! Here, share your most elaborate, unsafe, and/or insane power generation setups, doesn't matter what mod its for, what you use, or how you go about your goals, so long as its big, impressive, and preferably, generates more power than one would ever reasonably need.
I haven't quite gotten mine built up just yet, but I do have a working idea...
Okay, I've set up an Eternal Storm age. Why Eternal Storms, and why is it critical? Well, one, the thunder and lightning make epic backdrops for my planned build, and also, the generation ability of my factory depends on it! I need an unending supply of three resources: wood, string, and iron. I haven't -quite- worked out the iron bit, but I have worked out the former two, more or less.
For string, I might could have made an elaborate flax auto-farm, but that would've taken an asston of work, and probably looked pretty crap. Bollocks to that, I say! What did I opt for, instead? A sheep farm! A sheep farm with a line of deployers (with shears inside, as many as I can possibly make and hold in a max-sized ender chest) in the middle, and two lines of transposers, to pick up the wool. After that, the wool goes to a buffer chest, which then pumps its contents into an upgraded IC2 macerator which is (currently) working on a quantum generator, simply for debugging purposes, I do plan on replacing it with either wind or water power once all's said and done. Macerator breaks down the wool into string, and that gets shipped off to my string buffer chest.
For wood, I got me a little Steve's Carts tree farm with a charcoal-burning tree-lopping cart of beauty. Half the resulting wood gets burned into charcoal and sent back into the cargo manager, and the other half gets sent to, you guessed it, a buffer chest!
From here, I'll need to make auto-crafting tables for each planks, sticks, canvas, sails, and eventually, turbines. I might have to set up another ender chest to transport iron slab strips I make back home (dedicated Dense Ore mining age <3). After all that's done, and the sails are sitting pretty in my storage chest, I'll have a filter pulling the turbines out and shoving 'em into a 4x4 (maybe more, if I got the resources) kinetic generator bank. I'll have all my power cabling running underground, and I want it setup kinda like so (from the side):
Going all the way down the line to a bank of battery boxes which will serve as a high-speed battery recharging station of doom!
My plan for all this? Use the resulting MASSIVE heaps and gobs of RP2 power to power a few blulectric engines, effectively giving me endless (with a little hand maintenance) amounts of MJ which I can use to run ALL the things! Magma crucible? Sure! Assembly table (or five)? Ho, please. Quarry? Thing will dig from sea level to bedrock in, like...5 minutes, leaving a gigantic hole in the world, and quite likely buggering the local ecosystem for generations to come!
Also, RP2 wind turbines just plain look cool, lol.
