It seems there are a LOT of users thinking their log is called "the pastebin". While this was a bit comical at first, posting "the pastebin" as a wall of text in your thread is just not practical.

So, what is pastebin?

Pastebin.com is a website where you can store text for a certain period of time. The website is mainly used by programmers to store pieces of sources code or configuration information, but anyone is more than welcome to paste any type of text. The idea behind the site is to make it more convenient for people to share large amounts of text online. http://pastebin.com/faq#1
What does this mean to you as the user?

The people offering their time to help you ask you to use pastebin. We ask this because it's easy to read, and easy to navigate. As for the navigation bit of things, if I need help understanding something in your log (or I want to point out something specific to you) pastebin offers convenient Line Numbers for navigation.
What are these logs people keep asking for?

This is where things get a bit tricky. There are several types of logs people will ask for when trying to help you.

The first log is the Console Log. When you open your FTB Launcher, a second window, called the Console, opens with it. The contents of that window is the Console Log. By default, the Console is set to "Shown". If your is disabled, you can re-enable it in the Launchers Options Tab.
Conveniently, the Console has a button on it called 'Paste my Log to pastebin.com'. Before clicking that button, go to the drop-down menu right next to the button and select Debug or Extended. Those two options provide the most information for the people helping you. Now, you can click that 'post to pastebin' button. The downside to this button-it automatically posts to a Guest account, which means your log will expire in 24 hours.
If your Launcher closes and you cannot get the console log, there is an easy solution for this problem. Open your launcher and go to the Options Tab. Make sure "Reopen Launcher when Minecraft Closes" is selected. This way, when Minecraft closes, your console will remain open for you to get the log from.

The second log is the Crash Log. This log is what appears when your game crashes to the default Minecraft crash screen. If you're still viewing the crash screen, you can manually copy and paste the crash log from that screen to pastebin.com. If you've already closed out of Minecraft, or your game automatically kicked you from it, you can find your crash log in your mod-pack folder.
My file path looks like this: C:\Users\Adam\Desktop\FTBLauncher\MagicFarm2\minecraft\crash-reports
Yours will probably be different, but still roughly the same. You want to provide the most current log to tech support. The most current will be whichever file has the most recent "Last Edited" time-date stamp.

The third log is the ForgeModLoader-log, or FML Log. You will only be asked to provide this if you are experiencing a mod-pack bug, or a specific mod bug that we need to report. The FML Log will be found in the mod-pack folder also.
Again, my file path looks like this: C:\Users\Adam\Desktop\FTBLauncher\MagicFarm2\minecraft
Yours will probably look different, but still roughly the same.

The final log is the Server Log. You will only be asked to provide this when you are experiencing server-crash issues. You can find this log in the server folder on your computer, or where ever the server host makes it available for you.

Other logs that helpers may ask for can be found in the folder you installed your FTB Launcher in. These two logs are named the 'FTBLauncherLog' and 'MinecraftLog'. They do not provide the comprehensive information that is found the the Console log, which is why they are not always asked for.
But wait, you said the Guest accounts on pastebin.com only made logs available for 24 hours. What if someone needs the log after that time frame is up?

You can make a free account on pastebin.com. Once you have this account, you can set the logs to "Never Expire" when you create them. This option is at the bottom of the page, under Optional Paste Settings.
When you do this, you will need to manually copy and paste the Console Log from the console to pastebin. The 'post to pastebin' button does not post to the account that is actively logged on on your computer.
You can also find all of this information on the Help Desk Knowledgebase.

If you are unable to use pastebin.com or any similar site, please refrain from posting walls of text when posting your log in your thread.
To avoid WoTS (wall of text syndrome) please use s
poilers. Simply add these tags around your text.

Ash gives really good advice when it comes to this. And you should listen. The FTB support team have answered a -quite possibly infinite- number of questions from countless users.

However, I felt an urge to point out that some personal information could be contained in a logfile.

While logfiles are essential to understanding the key causes and effects of problems during runtime, its important to know what information can be contained in them when submitting a logfile.

If you have your desktop profile named with your real name, e.x. Mae, but you don't want necessarily everyone to know your name, you can *replace* the username of the profile path with your Minecraft username instead.

Example:

C:\Mae\App Data\.minecraft\bin
-can be changed to this-
C:\iPixeli\App Data\.minecraft\bin

Of course a name may not be the only thing contained in a logfile, (personal email address, device host names, local IP and MAC addresses, java versions, operating system info, hardware specifications, etc).

Usually such information is harmless to share, but it could be something you wouldn't want others to have.

So when submitting a logfile to someone, don't give out information that you don't want others to know!

Logfiles should really only given out to people you trust.
(FTB support, each respective modification developer, specific server owners, etc)
