I was wondering if there was a way to change a mc world from hardcore to survival or creative. I have a crash landing world, and I've worked really hard on it. If I was to die without having a sync shell built, and without having pressed the delete world button, would there be a way to switch gamemodes? I've heard nbtexplorer doesn't work with modded. And before you say "ask that on the mc fourms", I did and I got no response, so please try to help

Whenever I have used mcedit with modded, the world doesn't open. And if I got it to open, how do I change gamemodes?

I've used mcedit with modded, it works fine to change between survival/creative.

it's fairly easy, if you've never done it:

Spoiler

Open MCEdit
Click Open World
Select your save folder
Open level.dat
click MCEdit at the top left corner
Select World Info
Change the game type to whichever you desire
Don't forget to save

If you're talking about Hardcore mode within the HQM mod, it's a config option to disable I believe. I don't know whether or not it will interfere with your progression within the modpack.

If I was to change my gamemode to creative, what would the death screen look like when I log back in? When I saw tutorials before it showed the death screen and then they said to close out while on the death screen. Would if look like a normal death where it says respawn and title screen?

Probably not.

I'd dig around in HQM configs, as it sounds like that is what is happening. You're out of lives and I'm really not sure how to, or if you even can fix it.

I don't think its a thing with HQM because with my Agrarian skies world, when I open it, it doesn't say hardcore in the world selection screen. With crash landing it does

alright, then try mcedit. all it can do is fail.

make sure you back up your world first.

I don't have the open world option. I have load world and open save. Which do I click?

Which would to recommend because all the editors I try either say it was a error and doesn't open the level.dat or there is a different error

I tried changing gamemodes. Didn't work. Tried moving my player. Still had the death screen.
