I'm trying to make a xycraft tank out of smooth stone by digging it straight out of a wall. The interior volume is 10x9x7, no items inside and all blocks being mostly naturally formed smooth stone and some that I placed to replace removed dirt, gravel and ores. On the 'front' in the cave that I'm carving this tank out of is 3 rows of glass viewer in the middle three rows of the 9 wide wall and a single valve. When I right click the valve the tank won't form. Double checked all blocks are smooth stone (except valve and glass viewers). Any ideas?

Make sure that the frame(all the edges) is stone and you did not replace in with glass. If that does not work can you post a picture of the tank?

Double checked that, first chance I've had to be on in a couple of days but I've got some screenshots now. They are:

Also, the torches are merely for visibility for the screenshots and are not a permanent fixture within the tank.

The dirt that you've replaced (shown in the first picture) almost certainly had dirt behind it too; did you replace those edges? The edges, which are NOT visible in any of your screenshots, must be replaced with stone (or cobble...) as well. Sadly, in order to be sure that there is no dirt or gravel in ANY of your edges, you actually will have to dig out and then replace the blocks along every single edge.

If you've done that, I'm not sure what to suggest...

I think your suggestion may be my fix, I didn't think to check those edges since I was digging it out of the wall. Seems that there is quite a bit of dirt in my wall lol.

Edit: It is, in fact, the exact answer I needed. There were 5 pieces of dirt and one gravel keeping me from forming a tank all because I didn't mine out the edges to make sure it was all stone. Thanks!
