I really enjoy AM2's sigil of light. Not only will it light up a huge area around itself, it will through walls in it's radius for dark areas and light those up as well even without any line of sight.

^^^This is great! How do you people get these design ideas!!!
Plus you've given me ideas for an altar, he he he.

You answered your own question :) See what other people are doing or look for inspiration in real-life buildings. I then sketch out a theme on paper and hopefully the build turns out as I imagined.

That is really good yeah, I really like the bottom part with all the details. The top part is a bit "cubic" without any details, but the bottom is marvellous!

Thanks. In that picture, only the bottom half was complete! :) The top half was very much a work in progress.

I have since extended the pillars a little, added stained glass windows and am working on an "inlaid design" for the very top section. Thankfully it looks quite different now. Will post a pic when its done as feedback always welcome.

I use glowstone in regular fluiducts on the ceiling as lights or a floor of liquid glowstone in openblock tanks. Definitely not as good as either choice, but it's better than torches.

Yes I answered my own question, but a question is usually asked to other people, thus, others should answer. ;)
