Cause thats exactly what happened I think.
This morning I logged my pc and BOOM nothing startup repair did not fix anything.
So I restarted and it worked fine. Then I called a local pc shop about maybe getting a new HDD cause mine says its at 83% health on hdsentiel. So They said well you can get a seagate barracuda 7200 rpm performace drive 720 gb I think it was for 43 bucks not bad. So I am trying to get money atm to get that.
Now dude was like it sounds like you need to run a defrag so I ran a 6 pass on windows 7 and a normal run on smartdefrag program.
I go to start ftb on a server I had, it said that it was missing multiparts. So I shut it down restarted 2 more times it erased all my ips then my ftb just was like oh hey I do not feel like working anymore. So I am sure the defrag did this.

Has anyone else had a problem like this before?

Defragmentation doesn't remove data, unless the defragmenter is written poorly. It's also been vaguely useless as far as aiding performance for at least a decade.

That said, if your old hard-drive was already dying, the transfer to the new disk may have missed a few bits, which sounds like it would explain the symptoms. Equally it's possible the hard-drive wasn't actually broken and you have a different issue, like a bad stick of RAM (which can lead to some maddeningly confusing errors).

Either way, to answer your initial question, no. Disk defrag would not mess up FTB.

Thanks man I didnt get the new HDD yet when I get new drives I just start fresh I rarely put old back up stuff on them incase a virus or something of that nature. I mean maybe I do have a bad stick but I ran mem test not to long ago and got no errors. I do know one of my Dimm slots are bad or at least I think it is. I am redownloading my ftb right now monster pack and its just taking for ever so beats me what is truly wrong. Knowing my bad luck I probably need to turn my computer on and off lol. Thanks for the reply btw :)

You're still running off the drive that's suspected of being about to fail? I'd say that's a more likely candidate for your problems, then.

Sure thing, not a problem. Sorry I don't have any good suggestions to offer -- it just seems like hardware dying to me.
ya I mean it still has 83% health but that is not 100% ya know it probably is the dumb ass drive ha. I hate computers so much sometimes. If I had like 300 bucks to blow I would just get a OP SSD for real haha

Eh, the "percentage health" indicators tend to be just simple guesses based on a number of statistics. The primary thing making me think your drive is dying are your statements here:

This morning I logged my pc and BOOM nothing[...]
I go to start ftb on a server I had, it said that it was missing multiparts. So I shut it down restarted 2 more times it erased all my ips then my ftb just was like oh hey I do not feel like working anymore.
All of that is basically disk corruption -- files on the disk are going missing and/or broken, and that's just simply not supposed to happen.

Incidentally, SSDs have a limited lifespan, too (all hardware does, really), so the number one best thing you can do about any files you care about (like favourite Minecraft worlds, for instance) is backup. Often. And to different drives, preferably in different machines -- that way, when one disk dies, there's still another copy around.

Thanks man :) ya I am gonna sell some stuff around the house and go and get a new drive in the next few days do you think the seagate barracuda performance 7200rpm drive is good? I just want something that will at least last a year.

Have had a few, ad they last a couple of years of reasonable use. Them and the WD ones (mine were before the colours) are the ones I use.

I would also point out that the whole defrag thing is a little old thinking. Windows 7 handles that automatically fairly well. The few cases I've seen of poor W7 hdd performance have resulted in bad hdds.
