While I was playing, my FTB window closed suddenly. No crash log, nothing on the console, just closed. When I reopened FTB, my world was no longer in the world list. I've checked the install folder, and its still in the "saves" folder. Does anyone know what would cause this, and/or how to fix it?

I was filling a portable tank with Liquid Essence to take back to my base for about the 3rd time when the close happened.

In the options for the launcher make sure that "reopen launcher when exiting minecraft" is ticked. This will cause the launcher to automatically load up after a crash then you will be able to get a log from the console.

Make a backup of the world then create a new world with the same name then copy over your old world into the new one.

What exact files are you talking about? I've been looking into using NBTExplorer to edit a replacement level.dat, but are there any other files I should worry about? It also seems that I'm missing the level.dat_old in the save folder, is that required.

The level dat old file is probably created when it saves the level dat or it is a backup.

Make a backup of the problem world then remove it from the saves folder. Now create a new world with the same name now quit mc. Copy everything from the old world into the new one you just created and replace any files it asks about.

Thanks for your help.

It seems that creating a new world with the same name and the same parameters got me my world back, without having to copy anything.

Edit: It seems that a chunk was reset during this process, but now I have a rubber tree/puddle of water in the middle of a desert! Bonus chest also included.

So, I've run into another issue. Every time I save and quit to title, the world basically "resets". Any changes I've made, in the form of picking up liquids and blocks, reset after loading the world back up. It even duplicates items, say a portable tank that's out in the world. If I pick it up, save and quit, the tank stays in my inventory, but also goes back to being in the world. Any idea what would cause this behavior?

Alright, original fix worked on my world resetting problem, one final thing. Is there anyway to get back my items? My inventory reset to just having the TC starter book..

Edit: I know I can use NEI in cheat mode for the basic stuff, but that won't help me for Ars Magica spells.

so do I need to deleted the leve.dat file before copying? cause I did a straight copy create a new world and past into same one yet I dose same thing and crashes and removes it form the list.
