Wither Skeleton Skulls

Hello,
I've been researching a bit about farming wither skulls and I cant figure out what I should do.
Placing a skeleton spawner in the nether - doesn't work.
Moving a skeleton spawner to the nether with a gravity gun - doesn't work (the spawner disappears when i go through the portal (I tried the regular portal and a mystcraft portal)).
Is the only way to get a wither skeleton farm is by killing them?

so the only way is to kill wither skeletons?
i'll probably get to tier 2 then...

Well, I'm fairly certain that you can move a vanilla spawner into the nether. I've no idea why it's not workin' out for you.

Yeah, tested just now (I hope my boss didn't notice ). I just grabed the spawner with the portal gun and entered the nether portal. Nothing really matter, as long as you're holding the spawner with your gun, it's going to appear with you on the other side, you'll still be holding it.

Wait, don't you pick it up with a gravity gun?
I didn't try to pick up the spawner with a portal gun.
Also, are we talking about a soul-shards spawner or a vanilla spawner?

Vanilla spawner, mindcrack doesn't have the gravity gun.

I was trying to move a soul-shard spawner.
I'll try to find another skeleton spawner.
I'm using the DW pack so I used a gravity gun to move the spawner.

Edit: I tired moving a vanilla spawner with the gravigun in my test world and it worked.
Now I just have to find a skelly spawner in my world.

If your goal is to make a Wither Skelly Spawner to collect skulls, the next version of soul shards changes things so that mobs spawned from its spawners no longer drop rare drops (i.e. no skulls).
So you might be better off just moving 1 or more vanilla spawners to the nether and building a mob farm there for them.

Thaumcraft burrows always have one skeleton spawner, and Twilight Forest in general has lots of spawners (the lich keep is a good spot, for example).

Are the burrows the special caves inside the small hills?
I haven't found one yet.

Eh, I'm goin' to make a patch for that and post it somewhere once that happens. So I'm not worried about that.

Does a simple drop-kill trap make them drop skulls?

Nope, the head is a rare drop, you'll have to use TC iron golems, turtles or errr, there was one more thing don't remember what.

I did the AFK-kill method for a few times and got 0 skulls.
I did get a few stone swords, so does that mean i'm just a bit unlucky?
