SOLVED:
It turns out that there was a corrupt file that I had messed with due to other connectivity-errors almost a year ago.
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic...ostexception-sessionminecraftnet/page__st__20
I went to
C:/windows/system32/drivers/etc
And added a line of code to the file "hosts".
Removing the offending line a year later allowed me to connect to all servers again.
Thank you very much for being helpful and making suggestions on this forum.
Your help is much appreciated.
:)

Have you tried to connect with your firewalls and AV's off?
Have you tried a clean install of FTB and Java?

I have not done a clean install of Java, but of FTB, yes.
It would appear to have saved some settings in the launcher, but otherwise I deleted everything.
I have made sure that there are no firewalls blocking.

Do a clean reinstall of both java and the launcher. Turn off your av's and firewalls when downloading the launcher and running it the first time

"FTB launcher plus minecraft is running the newest version."
Please let us know the numbers, instead of saying the latest version.
Because if you are running minecraft at 1.4.4 (whitch is the latest) thats the problem.

The launcher loads through it's own copy of minecraft, so the .minecraft folder in his appdata/roaming folder shouldn't effect his launcher at all. And vise-versa

Sure. To clarify, I am running launcher version 6 and the .minecraft in appdata/roaming is version 1.4.4
The FTB build I am running is the one it automatically downloads; minecraft 1.4.2, mcp7.19, fml4.2.1.18.433 and forge 6.0.1.355. All 38 mods successfully loaded.

>I have just uninstalled every java version on my pc and downloaded and installed the newest 64'er.
>I have just now tried to connect without realtime protection nor firewall. All that accomplished was a few vira.

If it helps I am using a Tilgin wireless.

Try just reconnecting again? I sometimes get 3 or 4 connection errors before it will actually connect, the errors range from connection time out to socket error. All i do is click connect, get error, then click connect again, I don't even restart minecraft.

Not being very familiar with networks and connections, I can't really be sure.
But it would not appear;
  • There is nothing on google that suggests that the model has one.
  • The router-settings does have a tab called firewall and security, but there is no settings related to a firewall in the sub-tabs. I assume that the same headings are used universally for all the routher-types.
Long story short; it does not.

Are we all assuming that this is a problem at your end ? Aint your friends firewall up or are hist ports open to allow you to connect to his server. If you can connect to other server's then the problem is on his end.

problem at your end
It is not certain.
I have tried once to connect to another server, and got the exact same error. Reconnected a few times, and the problem persisted.

Many others have connected successfully to the server. Sometimes after getting my error and then reconnecting.
