Hello everyone,

First of all, sorry for my poor english, I'm french, I'll do my best to be understood :)

I plan to change my desktop pc, for a laptop.

Today, my laptop is :
i5 3570 - 8gb ram - GTX960
I can play ftb packs like Infinity evolved or ultimate etc. It's perfect, but a little slow to launch game.

I'd like to buy a laptop and I founded this one : Acer Aspire V Nitro. The specs are :
- Intel Core i5-6300HQ Quad Core 2.3 GHz (turbo 3.2)
- 8 Go DDR4
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M ( 2Go DDR5 VRAM )
- Full HD (1920 x 1080)
I can get this for +- 1200€ ($ 1300)

There is another version of this laptop :
- Intel Core i7-6700HQ Quad Core 2.6 GHz (turbo 3.5)
- 16 Go DDR4
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M (4 Go DDR5 VRAM)
- 4K (4096 x 2160)
I can get this one for +-1600€ ($ 1740)

I'd prefer the first one (cheaper :p) but I'd like to have your opinions..

Do you think I could play ftb normally with the first one ? If not, do you have another laptop for me, in the same budget, and IMPORTANT : ultrabook (slim) 15.6"
I thank you a loooooooot !!! :)

I own a Aspire V Nitro with almost the same specs as your cheaper version, just with a Core i7 and the Geforce 840M. It is one year old now and runs most 1.7.10 packs with 30-50 fps.

Nice ! I heard that for FTB, we must have a good CPU, the i5 6300HQ is good ??

30-50 fps, is it playable ? On my desktop, I run 250 - 300 fps so I prefer ask :P

Thank's !

Your i5 is about as fast as my i7, maybe even a bit faster (mine is 2.0-3.1 Ghz). So that should be comparable.
I'd just recommend you buy a version with a decent SSD, this increases loading time and helps with performance in general.

For me the fps is just fine, I currently play regrowth with no issues. Startup and worldgen creates a little lag here and there.

And yes, you're right, the CPU is pacemaker in minecraft. However, on a laptop it will be hard to find a beast that can compare to a gaming desktop setup without spending thousands of dollars, so yeah...
(And your second setup probably won't speed up the performance so much that it is worth the price)

Ok perfect !
Yup, the first config has a 512gb m.2 ssd so it's fine =D
I wondered about the difference of i5 6300HQ and i7 6700HQ but if you say that the first one is okay, so I trust you =D

Thank's a lot =)

Just as I said, it will be a bit faster (2.3 Ghz vs. 2.6) but I wouldn't pay that much extra money for it :p

I hope I did not bias you too much. I just really love my Aspire in general, not only for MC.
It's a nice all-around notebook with decent performance and not too much weight to carry around.

You're welcome ;)

Yes I will use it for general use, game and web developpement so I found this one perfect =)
