Attention! ¡Atención! Aandacht! Achtung! Внимание!
1. I'm looking for YouTubers that create item spotlights of items in both Vanilla Minecraft and for items added by mods. These spotlights should be short, sweet high quality videos that explain the most important things to know about that specific item/block. For an example video, please check out these very awesome videos. [1], [2] These videos would be linked to through WikiLink so depending on how many people use my mod, it could be a great source of views. If you are interested, please PM me!

2. I also need help improving my information base for WikiLink. I have spent a while scouring the internet for mod wikis, but perhaps there is one or two that I have missed. If you know of a mod that has a very decent wiki, please leave the name of it here and I will get it handled.

Here is the list of supported wikis so far.

Have you ever been playing in a big modpack, or even vanilla Minecraft, and found yourself wondering what a specific item you have does? Or have you ever been playing in Minecraft and you wished for an easy solution to getting your questions answered? Well my friend, I have a solution for you.

WikiLink is a utility used to open various information sources based on what you want to look up inside of Minecraft. If you are curious about the functions of redstone, all you have to do is use one of the various built in functions of WikiLink and you’ll get the information you need in seconds via your default web browser.

WikiLink has been tested and has been proven to work on all operating systems including Windows, Mac and Linux or Unix. Thank you to my valiant testers for helping me squash bugs and fix problems regarding operating systems and browser handling. If you are experiencing a bug however, please do not hesitate to post in this thread, send me an email, or even tweet me.

Usage
WikiLink is super easy to use, making getting information on mostly every item in the game a breeze. You can open the WikiLink menu GUI by pressing the default key - I - (Configured in NEI keybindings menu) while hovering over an item in your inventory or the NEI item panel. The WikiLink menu will display a series of information sources based on that particular item including Wikis, Google links and even YouTube videos.

You can select any of the information sources by clicking on one of the brown boxes until it turns green. When selected, you can either open the link automatically in your default browser or you can copy the link directly to your clipboard so you may paste it in the chat or send it to a friend.

Download and Installation

All downloads for WikiLink have been moved to my website. Alternatively, you can download WikiLink on Curse Forge, however, the Curse Forge download might not always be updated…

Frequently Asked Questions
I have a wonderful FAQ section on my website if you would like to check it out. It has all of the information regarding my project and all of the legal stuff. There is also information regarding modpacks there.

IIRC the mod is completely being reworked, and that thread is pretty much demolished by "I don't think any modder will put the API in their mod".

Anyways, I think this is cool, but somewhat impractical, mostly because I play mega-hard packs, where you can't just stand there for a while...

In that respect I retract my statement.
I liked this idea from the start. I look forward to seeing what comes from it.

just throwing up something I noticed this past week, it seems you can read information about items from the Extra Utilities mod in NEI if you press shift+r while hovering over the item, it looks like this

I don't know if this has been a feature for long, but I noticed it this week.
might be a nice addition for this mod if it's actually something new

That look's like it's built into the mod since it only works with extra utilities items, right? The author most likely sets descriptions for each and every item. This, however, is the most requested feature of WikiLink and I just had a fairly brilliant idea that could perhaps do something like this with live information directly from wikis, but I don't want to disclose it just yet.

Thanks. I'm running out of decent ideas, but I still have a few more good tricks up my sleeve.

Thank you very much. It is a bit impractical for more hardcore players that play at a fast pace in a fast game, but yet, what hardcore player would go in without knowing what they are doing? :p

Oh wow. This is really cool
definitely going to put this in my next pack.

Thanks :D If it's a public pack then I would love to play it.

if you perhaps have it working so it automatically takes the information from the internet, you could perhaps add a function for servers to automatically share information for their servers aswell through this mod. things like rules or disabled items from mods, heck, maybe even news about the server

Noted. I'm not sure how possible this would be without making WikiLink a serverside mod however, which I am trying to avoid. I'll look into it. Thanks for the idea :)

[Update]
I have been slowly working on WikiLink, and I have just released version 3.00.05r today. It only adds link-shortening via the new URL system I have added. I have also been talking Jinbobo, the leader of the wiki team, and there has been some fairly interesting discussions.. ;)

Eeeeeh... It would be VERY hard to add offline caching support for all operating systems, plus you would have to visit pages first before they are "cached" anyways. I really, really want to add this, but honestly it's not possible, or even legal, I think. I know that my good bud ProfMobius makes a sweet mod called WAILA, and his mod is probably best for an offline source of information, although unfortunately it's not as in depth as a wiki page would be.

but he's working on a whole new version of WAILA that's independent from NEI and will be giving alot more information to the user ;)

Oh I knew this a long time ago. :p My eyeballs beheld the first few alpha images, and it's really awesome. I have to wait until he's done with his API before I can use his mod though.
