Why isn't killer joe working?

All I am trying to do is get xp and zombie heads to make stuff and the killer joe seems full.

Looks like your Killer Joe is facing the wrong direction. Turn it a full 180º

Yup, Killer Joes are a faced item. Yours is aiming at a wall.
