Why is my FTB crashing and corrupting my saves?

My FTB keeps crashing, which seems to be the reason why my saves are corrupted.

After a crash I can create a new world and it will work fine, but any previous saves crash when I try to load them up.

Please can someone help me, I've tried everything that I've read and nothing has worked. I've had to use backup saves twice now and I dont want to have to keep doing that as I lose a lot of progress.

Thanks.

Crash Report is attached.

I would manually backup your world in a safe location (sounds like you already know how to do that, just manually copy the "saves" and perhaps "journeymap" folders if you use that mod), and then delete the FTB folder entirely, re-download it and install a fresh, brand new instance of it. Then download the modpack and restore the backup of your world. If that doesn't fix it, then I dunno what I'd do next. Let's see if that works first. It's kinda like when your computer starts acting funny - first logical thing to try is "reboot", right? So just "reboot" your FTB install and see if that helps or not.

I have done that before. I still had to use a backup to get back onto my world though. It feels as if something is making ftb crash after a while and then the crash is corrupting the files, but I can't figure out what it is at all. I basically cant play the game at the moment unless I keep starting new worlds or loading from backups, but I always have to go 3 or 4 backups back before I get one that actually works, which is weird as the game is running fine between the backups.

You might want to try loading the world that generated that crash log in MCEdit and see what is at location X:-622, Y:19, Z:752. That seems to be the tile entity which has corrupted NBT data. The mod it belongs to isn't necessarily the culprit here, but removing it could make the world load again. You could try playing without (or maybe updating) the mod the tile entity belongs to as well to see if that helps.

The original crash log (i.e. not the crash from trying to load the corrupted world) would also be helpful in finding the problem.

Okay I did this with MCEdit and I've attached what I saw at that location. the block itself looked like it could have been in a dungeon/prison looking place underground. Any thoughts?

If this is in the middle of nowhere (where you haven't built anything), you could try selecting the surrounding area using MCEdit and delete those chunks to force them to be recreated by Minecraft. That could make the world load, but would of course not fix the real problem - why it is crashing in the first place. Have you tried running a file system check on the drive where the world is stored? If possible, try moving the installation to another disk and see if the corruption / crashes persists. Are you using a vanilla modpack from FTB or have you added anything extra?

How would I do that? I've built stuff nearby but no closer than 300 blocks away. The world loaded when I put it on another drive. I was a fresh spawn in a random place but I think it was my world, however it crashed after about 2 minutes of playing.

Do you have the crash log from that first crash after the world had loaded successfully? Also, a tip is to quote someone when responding, that gives a notification that someone has responded to them.

The crash report for that crash is completely blank. I've attached the one before that but I'm not sure if this is useful.

Well, you can see that the world is corrupted but that's about it. If you use a backup or restore the world, and then get a new crash, try looking under /logs (instead of /crash-reports) in the "fml-client-latest.log" file. It may have more information.

You can also try, after making sure you have a world backup, the Minecraft Region Fixer tool.
