If you want a partner in Minecraft crime, Infinity is a pack I've always wanted to play, but never had any one to play with. I'd be happy to come along for the (train) ride.
Most definitely! It will be a while, though. I'm knee deep into this one and I intend to go into the deep end this time. But, that's a good idea. Once I'm ready for infinity, I will send out a couple of invites...
One way to keep yourself playing the same game is to pick 1 new mod to learn / experiment with on every play through. You can either play as normal and wait until you hit that "stopping point" and then start learning the new mod, or force yourself to play exclusively with the new pack. I had 1 play through that I was on a multi block kick and never had learned Immersive Engineering so I forced myself to play exclusively with that mod. I had a lot of fun with that base and learned 2 things: 1) IE has some wickedly cool multi block structures and 2) IE is wholly and completely not worth the effort from a min/max standpoint.

Yea that mod has some crazy expensive things that really does not make any sense for the effort, but god knows it is insanely cool looking.
I agree too, that’s how I generally kept going with modpacks. The next one I want to get into is Astral Sorcery but since Dire has like a 2 hour tutorial on it, I imagine it is rather complex.
I usually try to start a world when the major mods have been moved over or created for a version of Minecraft. I typically follow the Refugee to Regent challenge to self restrict technologies while building up a city/town/empire. This lets me build up both experience with mods and learn how I feel the world needs to grow. Eventually a new version with great new mods appear and I *must* upgrade! And that's when I shift over to a new world.
