Why cant I put items into my smeltery?

I have a transfer node getting infinite cobble. It goes into a chest. I use item conduits to put cobble from the chest into the ???? Thats the problem. I tried putting it in to the controller, nothing. I'm trying to get seared stone for my smeltery.

Can you put items into the smeltery controller's GUI manually? If not, the smeltery might not be put together properly.

I usually use a hopper to put things into the smeltery controller; if the smeltery is working but not taking items from the conduit, try connecting the conduit/chest to a hopper and using that to put the items in.

I seem to remember having a problem trying to put the items in through the front of the controller. I've always since placed the controller so that I could input from the side.
