why am I not getting ID conflicts? (creating modpack)

So I was going to install a whole bunch of mods to my standard launcher in 1.6 and spend a while sorting out the ID conflicts, but I noticed that when I added all my mods, there was not a single conflict that showed up! Is something going on here that I don't know about? I have not made a pack since 1.5.
 
Mods have began to properly use forge's id setting methods so if you add all of the mods at the same time, they work nicely(ish).
Item IDs are a tad bit nastier sometimes; they rear their ugly heads when you find out something needs all sorts of random stuff to craft...
