Hey guys! I've used FTB before and I absolutely love it. I remember the old days of using winrar to mod the minecraft.jar directly for every single mod. I've used FTB a bit but I'm not familiar with all of the big mods today. I'm going to try my best to describe what I want, and I want to know which packs the community suggests.

I'm mostly speaking from experience with modpacks I've used before. I'm looking for a pack to play with 2-3 people (I use open-to-lan to play so single player mods are fine.) I want it to be mostly industrial-oriented because my friend likes to make huge oil refineries and quarries. I'd like it to have a pretty good system for trains and maybe a mod to create other realms. I'd prefer that it already has some form of performance-increasing mod allowing the game to utilize 2+ cores, but that isn't a big issue. I have an i5-4590, 16gb of RAM and a GTX 970 so performance isn't an issue. I'm open to hearing your suggestions! Thanks everyone! :) this is my first post on this forum

If you don't mind it being 1.6, I always strongly recommend the TPPI pack. It have a very strong suite of tech mods that is nicely cross balanced and works well with each other.

I second TPPI, though for a 1.7 pack, I like EthosLP Pack, which requires a pack code. Under Third Party Packs, there'll be a button at the top Pack Codes. Click that and type: etho. That should add the pack to the launcher. (I personally suggest using edit pack to disable Glenn's Gasses, because it's annoying.)

It's a very tech heavy pack, including Mechanism, which can do 5x Ore processing with a huge chain, as well as Rotary Craft, which has an enormous tech tree. Plus it has Buildcraft and Railcraft for oil and steam boilers. Plus it has Pam's Harvestcraft.

There's also Modular Mayhem, which is intended for just that, large factories with multi-blocks and modular solutions. Pack code: modularmayhem No oil though.

Recent general purpose FTB packs for 1.7.10 like Direwolf20 or Infinity will probably work well.

Also, if you're used to manipulating the jar, creating your own mod pack now (in 1.7.10) is incredibly easy by comparison. And if you're only 2-3 players, manually managing updates etc. might be survivable.
