After hearing about all the commotion around Redpower (awesomest mod ever) holding back FTB, I was wondering about some of the other mods. GregTech in particular sorely needs to be updated in this pack, as well as thermal expansion (liquiducts and portable tanks!). What other mods are going to be updated or added with this next update for Redpower, if any?

EDIT: Sorry if I sound anxious or like I don't appreciate what the FTB team does. Everyone here loves what you do a lot! I'm just trying to get a definitive answer so I know to stock up on some low-cost items that will be a lot more expensive in the next update for mods.

Well, Redpower is updating to 1.4.5, so the game will run on MC 1.4.5, which means all the mods currently in the pack will update to 1.4.5.

Once redpower get's included in the pack it quite possibly will break some worlds as well. at the very least one would have to mess with mystcraft ages to get the redpower specific ores and terrain features.

I believe that official word is that the Beta pack will not be updated. It does not follow with the set block/item IDs, and so updating to another pack is likely to break any of your worlds.

When the update does arrive, it will be the official release of the packs, and the beta pack will be shelved.

So will all of the mods be updated to 1.4.5 (aka their latest versions) in this next update?[DOUBLEPOST=1355688521][/DOUBLEPOST]

Wait, what? Beta won't be updated? Then what is this "redpower release" all about? Which mod pack is it for?

Well in order to update the mod pack to 1.4.5 to add redpower 2 and still have the mods in it... yes they would have to update the mods. The when and how they plan to update it we do not know and will probably not get to know until we suddenly find the pack updated.

I'd love for the other packs to be included in the Ultimate Pack, under the reasoning of 'Why the Hell not?' FTB is the most ambitious modding project in Minecraft history, how epic would it be to have a release where it blasted open the doors with 100+ mods and complete SMP support?

I love what the devs are doing with it, and would enjoy seeing it grow and flourish!

I love that idea as well. I don't think the pack needs to be separated into "magic" and "factory". A gigantic amalgamation would be amazing!

Which is exactly why they are making 3 packs. Tech, Magic and Ultimate (Thats at least according to rumors around here)

6 packs. Dig through the sticky mod request thread for Slowpoke's posts. The pack specifically tailored for the FTB map itself, magic, tech, ultimate, server lite, and the Direwolf20 pack.

Interesting. And that information is confirmed? Will ultimate be all inclusive, or will it still exclude some of the mods that are in other packs?

I knew it would change terrain generation, but I didn't know it would change block/item ID's. Is there any way to convert a map, changing the ID's to the proper ones?

Are the future ID's listed anywhere? Could you then change the ID's to those in the configs, start a new map and have it be compatible after beta?

EDIT - I found one program that can change ID's in the map called mIDas. It hasn't been officially updated forAnvil, but a user in the thread released mIDas Gold which works for Anvil.

That info was given by Slowpoke himself, so yes, it's been confirmed.

The Ultimate will have most, if not all the mods in it.

Hmm, the question now seems to be which pack will be the most complete FTB experience... I have no experience with redpower but I want to keep what I've gotten to know with the beta and add redpower, wonder which pack will be best for that...
