I'm quite excited to start playing FTB Horizons, since it has a bunch of new mods that don't appear in the older packs. However, the amount of new stuff is quite overwhelming. Where's the best place to start? Obviously i'm used to Tinker's and thaumcraft from the other packs, but what about the other stuff?

A mostly unrelated question: I noticed that metallurgy is one of the new mods, despite the FTB team saying for the longest time that they weren't going to add it. What's the deal with that?

Think of Horizons as a "Let's introduce ourselves." kind of modpack. It aims to promote mods that are new, interesting and/or not in any existing FTB packs. So just goof around I say.

As for metallurgy, might need someone more knowledgable to answer that question you've posed. :p

That really depends on what you're looking to do. But if you have any interest in the magic mods, those should be started as soon as you have the resources since they're meant to be long-term progression. I've started using my first 2 diamonds for a BM altar, and get an AM2 book as soon as I find an essence pool.

On Metallurgy: I don't know why it's suddenly in, but I'm glad it is. Especially with ExtraTiCo, it adds tons of new options for tools and metals (and one of the easiest ways to produce steel)
