Hello all who care to read this,

Recently have been coming across an increase in inconsistent data regarding as how to operate certain features in different mods in FTB Unleashed and so forth. Even after realizing that videos exsisted since the "beta" stages of the conception of a combo of a few mod packs til so many now, I have managed to "begin" to scratch the surface a little in learning; however a huge problem still confronts me as to where to start learning buildcraft and industrialcraft because of the many videos of different versions of the mod prior. (Mystcraft was a beginning point for me since I played the original PC games and have always dreamed of such a game that I can "write my own", and that was a damn headache.) Been watching DireWolf20 videos, ran across different videos for buildcraft and industrialcraft and videos don't all contain same materials. I am more intimidated with the new machines like the macarator and the coke oven. (sorry for misspelled words.)

So to sum up or the TL;DR version:

Do I have to watch each DireWolf20 version Mod Spotlight to learn EVERY aspect of BC and IC2? or is there one "semi-final" video that spotlights all the main features?

Let's play videos are too long and I need quick info, I am so far behind!

IMO, forget the videos and start reading the wikis. The FTB wikis have really good information usually.
What I do when encountering a new mod is to look it up on the wiki and look through all the different blocks/items it adds. I think that gives me a better understanding of the mod, than some short preview of a Mod spotlight.
I am usually playing MC on one screen and got several wiki pages open on other.

Personally I think IC2 is a good place to start. Set up macerator/furnace/extractor/compressor etc and maybe play around with some hopper/chute and buildcraft pipes to automate it. It was what got me started. Its probably not the best solution for stuff, but its relative simple and once you understand those, the other mods seemed easier to dive into.

Use the videos to get an idea how things work. Use the wiki (if it is up to date) to get more details on different blocks and how they work. Then make a Creative world and see how it all really works and how it interfaces with other mods.

Ok then one last thing, there are several different "wikis" out there, can you kind people lead me to a more complete and details wiki that isn't a few descriptive pages that tell me things that I already know?

Hmm not really easy. It can be a bit of detective work to find the right information. I just google the "minecraft ftb itemname/modname" and see what comes up. There are some wikis better than other, but you cant really just stick to one.
Also sometimes you will want to go to the individual mods website(for example Applied Energistics and Forestry. Big user of both of those) for the best information.

Generally: Google is your friend. (your very nosy, information gathering friend :p)

Nah I dont have anything to hide, and I know google have to earn money on something. So if they can present me with advertisements that actually interest me, I dont mind if the save information about my use of googles products.

if you want to know how to use mods I'd suggest to start watching some modded LP's aswell, as they often give viewers new ideas on how to use a mod.

But there's often SO far between the useful bits. I rather use that time on wikis, mod spotlights and experimenting myself, where after I tend to end up with better solutions than the "standard" solution in the LPs.

Off topic, attitudes like that are why the united states are watching its citizens on everything they do. Too many "I don't care because i aont doing nothing wrong." attitudes. Start caring because Google makes WAY too much money and are now buying and selling our profiles as "market strategies". OK no more ranting... thanks very much for the ideas. That's primarily what I have been doing but like I said it is taking a while. But oh well that's ok.
