Mac When trying to open a world, "Loading world" screen stays forever and does not actually load.

I was casually playing on this FTB world, everything was fine and I logged out. Then I tried logging in and the map refused to load, the screen just said "Loading world" and then nothing happened for an hour. Can someone tell me if I am doing something wrong? And what I should do.

edit: This is on a PC machine NOT a Mac.
